It seems I have a reason to root for The CW to pick up The Vampire Diaries for its fall schedule: This Katerina Graham person -- heretofore best known as an R&B-video vixen and as one of those weird-ass Fanta girls -- evidently got cast in the pilot, and if it goes to a series, we might see a whole lot more of her.
And THAT will be entertaining. Here's what she whipped out for a "Rally For Kids" cocktail party at the beginning of this month:

Your eyes do not deceive you: Those are leather shin guards, and she is obviously the lead in a local burlesque show entitled "Buffy The Vampire Player," about a ragtag ream of rebels that vanquishes the undead through intense field-hockey games.

At first I was sure that thing on the left was the world's weirdest handbag. Then I noticed she's got a clutch as well, which would be overkill unless she refused to leave home without the ENTIRE contents of her Caboodles makeup case. So... what IS that monstrosity, then? Is it a necklace? Is it part of her shirt somehow? Is it an exotic musical instrument on which she is the world-renowned maestro, on which she will play a stirring rendition of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by strumming it with a bow made of sporks? Is it the bag in which she accepts donations to buy a more attractive bag that doesn't look like it's made of three pieces of shoe soles being held hostage?
We may never know. But God willing, she'll turn up at a bunch of CW parties to give us a further peek into her accessories closet. It's got to be two parts Hot Topic, one part Michael's: The Arts And Crafts Store in there.
