Unfug It Up Part II: The Unfuggening: Shantel VanSanten vs. Diane Kruger

Hey guys! Remember when we Unfugged this dress on Diane Kruger?

spl120385_004-thumb-420x840.jpg

Someone else made her own attempt to UnFug it, and then wore it out where we could all see her efforts and therefore judge:
This is Shantel VanSanten, who is in Final Destination 3D: Seriously, We're Almost to Our Final Destination, and who is joining the cast of One Tree Hill this season as Haley's sister. I expect her to be psychotic, have a terminal illness, have a raging drug addiction, be involved in selling black market organs (Dan Scott DOES need a new heart), be secretly a dude, or all of the above. I mean, it IS One Tree Hill. SOMEONE'S HEART GOT EATEN BY A DOG.

Hers is shorter, with different colored epaulets, and I think it fits a bit better, but frankly, I don't know that shortening it THIS much was a great idea. To me, it looks a bit like it shrunk in the wash. But it's Friday, and I'm going to make you guys do all the work. Is this better? Is it worse? Is it just as awesome? Is it just as bad? Who wins this one? Get your vote in now and we can see how it lines up with Us Weekly's readership when they inevitably ask us who wore it better.

UGH. TOO SHORT. I liked it better on Diane. But I LOVE Diane. So...biased.

The dress in general smacks of some space/alien cocktail number, the epaulets denoting rank among the Starship fleet. First Mate Kruger would definitely be higher up the food chain on the deck of the Enterprise than Specialist VanSanten (the red epaulet version being reserved for the ill-fated Ensign Ricki to sport on her way to the surface of some God-forsaken planet - we know how THAT story ends). I say, beam that frock up the ol' interplanetary garbage chute (but save the footwear - cute in both cases).

Shantel's version is too short, which is a shame since it otherwise looks much better on her than on DK.

Have to go with Shantel on this one, even though it smacks of tunic at that length. For me, it boils down to the hair: if you're ballsy enough to rock the epaulets, don't get all shy! The coif must go up!

Worse.
a) it was worn AFTER D.Krug wore hers
b) shorter=youthful? not so much youthful as it is "oh look my legs totally beat hers so I'm going to be risky and make it one exit from a low-riding car away from being a real celebrity.
c) changing length, epaulet color and having some tailoring done done does not make it a new dress.

After a dress has been fugged/unfugged on an established actress I don't think it's wise for a not so established soon to be tv "actress" to wear it. Ever.

I like Shauntel's version better. It's a tad short, but it works. She just generally works it better than Diane. I think it goes well with her skin and hair color.

It loses all the elegance of Diane's version when it's that short. Or maybe it's the elegance of the wearer that's lacking.

I also feel that Shauntel's version is more successful, and I also think it has something to do with her hair color. She did shorten it too much, but her overall look is better.

I think it's just a bad dress. Short, long, white, black, it's a bad dress.

Obviously misunderstood the timeless fashion maxim "less is more."

The dress is hopeless with this strange taille and this shoulder thingy. The breasts also don't say thank you for the presentation.

It looks like she donated the bottom half of her dress to the victims of Hurricane Katrina (Bill? It's an old joke but fits this dress perfectly)

Hate the dress in both cases, but Shantel's shoes are 10 kinds of awesome.

Way too short and although those shoes are kind of cute, the dress just needs to be placed back in the wash and then lost in the dryer.

Hate the dress in both cases, but Shantel's shoes are ten kinds of awesome.

Way too short and although those shoes are kind of cute, the dress just needs to be placed back in the wash and then lost in the dryer.

Thankfully, the pregnant chic vibe is now gone, only to be replaced with a distinct air of figure skater. Diane still wins, if you want to call it a win.

Both cases are terrible. D. Krug's is heinously accented with the white epaulet things, but this is balanced out by Potential Psycho Drugdealing Dude-Chick wearing it short enough to show us all where her last cervical smear took place. I think this is what the kids call a lose-lose situation.

Well. Shantel got a little over-zealous with the hem there, didn't she?

Minimally better on Shantel - but it's just an awkward mess! Who wants their boobs smushed flat, and their waist up under their arms? Throw it in the trash.

Shantel is much better. She shortened it too much but I still like it. Diane's white epaulets make her look like she has wing\horn things coming out of her shoulder

black epaulets = upgrade
mini-mini length = downgrade

i'd call this one a wash, but diane kruger has some cred to me, so i declare her the winner.

i just don't like the dress.
but diane wore it better, even though i don't particularly dig her shoes. i hate pointy shoes.

I don't think it looked that...rectangular on Diane. Sure it shows off her legs but it does nothing for her upper body shape.

This is a butt-ugly dress and no one ever needs to wear it again in any length or color combination.

Frankly, as much as I love Diane Kruger, I think Shantel wore it better. Obviously it's about an inch and a half too short, but other than that it looks sultry and kind of funky on her.

Diane's, with the pointy contrast epaulets and the dowdy in-between length, looks futuristic-frump to me.

my opinion: the dress is better on Shantel, but only b/c the epaulets NOT being gold is a major improvement. her shoes suck, and the length is ridiculous on this dress. plus she's too pale (not advocating tanning), so she should have some sheer black hose on.

i still have to give it to her, much as i love diane, b/c diane has been dressing in the dark lately. and she WAY loves the shoulder pads/embellishments WAY too much. *sigh*

On Diane it looks strange, but she manages to seem sort of classy and regal regardless. This Shantel person looks as though she found the dress in the little girls' department and liked it so much she bought it anyway. It makes her look like a deranged doll. It also makes her legs look thickish, when they are quite certainly not. It does her no favors at all.

Sheesh.
The problem wasn't the length. It was the metal shoulder pads. Nobody wins.

OMG! the dress is still HORRIBLE!!! It doesn't matter what length it is, it's just plain awful! I can't believe D.Krug's version was actually better looking!

OMG IT WAS A MILLION TIMES BETTER LONGER
I am against this whole mesh/lace on top of dresses thing in general, but dear lord that is too short. Short enough to qualify as a SHIRT.

I'm having a hard time looking at the new dress objectively. I think the shoulders are better in black, however the redeeming quality of this dress to begin with was that Diane Kruger was wearing it. Hate to realize how stuck-up I am, but I don't think the adjustments made to the dress make up for the fact that Diane Kruger isn't in it.
If DK was wearing the dress AND it was about three inches longer, I might like it better. That means better than before.

It's the curving at the waist line that makes them both look like they have a little belly. I'ts a wee bit too maternity wear.

I agree that it's fug no matter what incarnation is chosen. However, Shauntel's better for only two reasons. 1) the shiny gold epaulet looks black. Maybe it's an optical illusion or lack of flashbulb, but black is better than gold here. 2) She has brushed her hair up in an attractive 'do, so that it does not compete with the shoulder armor.

In general, they both need to just get another dress and start over.

Man, *that* short => way trashy. First one is better all 'round, from fit to length to shoes -- only thing I would change is the epaulet (I like the darker ones best).

Shantel does wear it better but at that short length it looks like something she swiped from her 8 year old niece's closet that was last worn for a Christmas party at grandma's house.

The Krugster totally wins because (a) she's not some 9021-Place-Remake star when always looks drunk/stoned, (b) she has an odd yet somewhat interesting/classy fashion thing going that allows her to pull off something a bit strange yet elegant like this, and (c) her shoes! For crying out loud, her shoes are fabulous, and I want them. Final-Desintation-er, however, looks like she lost the front lace-up part of the show. Boo.

Better, but it could have been two inches longer. It's not fabulous in either incarnation though. What I really love are the SHOES. DK's are dull.

Better, but still requires a 3/4 length sleeve.

Also too many inches removed- one would have done!

I think it's better now -- though still not great. It needs to be an inch longer, and it still needs every part of it that isn't black removed.

Whoa. Too short. Sorry - just 'cuz you can doesn't mean you should. Other than that, the fit, the black epaulets, and the steal-worthy shoes are all improvements.

i liked it the first time, and i like it the second time - EXCEPT it's way way too short. boo boo, no. fab shoes though.

I like the hair better on the One Tree Hill / Final Destination girl. But the dress -- shorter -- now looks straight out of Hot Topic.

I don't actually think the epaulets are a different color; I think they're both a dark metallic and Kruger's dress was just reflecting sunlight. Making the only change the shorter hem, and the fact that it's on a different shaped woman. I like it on Van Santen

Hmmm, black epaulets = advantage Shantel.
Hemline NOT flirting with crotchtacularity = advantage Diane.
Tasteful, classy (if tame) shoes = advantage Diane.
Bumpy illusion = no favor to either. Smooth illusion MIGHT save it. Still loving the pearls, though, just cuz.

I'm voting Diane anyway.

Difference of opinion makes for horse races, y'all.

But if either or both started over with a new dress, I'd support that.

I actually don't like the shoes in the second pic. To me, they look like Dr. Martin's crossed with orthopedic gear crossed with Evan Rachel Wood. I dunno, just looks off.

It just looks so cheap on both of them. Walmart? KMart? If it was from Target, it would be both better made and cuter.

Better on this one. I hated it on Diane, and felt it couldn't be unfugged. Not saying it looks awesome now or anything, but better.

It sucks anyway you cut it, but cutting it short makes Shantel look like she belongs in "Pretty Baby" with some aging sleeze with a beer belly drooling over her. YUCK! At least Diane looks slightly classy.

slight advantage to Shantel: only cuz it doesn't look like the dress is trying to choke her. (even IT would rather stay at home, in the closet, with other forgotten shoulder pads).

The hem looks to me like she just slapped it up with some of that iron-on hem tape that I used in college(without success, I might add, I was in Europe, and when the dress unhemmed, I had to resort to staples. Classy!).

Also, I hate the shoes on Shantel. Hate. So, based on the shoes and the hem, Diane wins. Plus, you know, the boyfriend thing. She wins at that, too.

Actually, except for the boob-squeeze, DK's version fits better. SVS's has baggy sleeves, and the neckline is scooped at that indeterminate point which highlights collarbones and neck tendons - it should be either higher (like DK's) or much lower. Of course, it's much too short - but, either way it's a hideous dress. Nobody should wear epaulettes unless they're in a marching band.

There is no hope to be found here. The dress looks like something one of those creepy contestants from "Who Wants to Be a Superhero" would design in an attempt to impress Stan Lee with how deep their Asperger's runs.

Jeezy Creezy, she chopped a good six inches off that sucker! (Or else, she is a half-foot taller than Kruger.)

Anyway, it's ugly. The only person who could POSSIBLY pull this off (with or without the changes on the second dress) is Blaire f'ng Waldorf. Everyone else should just stop trying to make it work.

personally i think it's just weird all around, and i don't really like it at all, but it's better on DK. I'm used to weird on her, and plus the re-do is too short for the style of the dress.

I MUCH prefer v. 1 on DK. She looks like a lady. Shantels is much too short - makes the whole thing look kinda meh.

It's hopeless. If two such attractive women can't make a dress work, what is the point of discussing it? Die, sad little dress, die.

While I'm not crazy about the dress, I feel that Diane Kruger definitely did it better. The shorter length, as well as the repetition, just ruined it.

i am cranky.

still, even were i not, when that dress is shortened THAT much, it just looks even more confused. it is e'er the mixed metaphor in any & every case, but the advancing decrotchitude just worries its overburdening to not mini but maxi length.

okay.

better shoes on this one. other looks more appropriate & far, far less sleazeful.

advantage: DK.

I have come to the conclusion that I just don't like this dress. The only way to unfug it is to pick a new one, or wear a coat over it all night. The shortness of the second version truly brings in to Ice Capades territory. I don't the dress can be saved.

Ugh. It's a hideous dress either way.

Diane's looked like a maternity dress. This looks like a maternity tunic meant to be just long enough to cover some slacks with a massive elastic panel in them.

Maternity or no maternity, epaulets = no.

*Are* the epaulets a different colour? Or are they just reflecting black walls instead of sky?
I'm not convinced that this dress is saveable with that waistline. I know frocks that create the illusion of pregnancy seem to be fashionable these last few years (seriously, what is with that?) but faux-maternity wear is not a good look. On anyone. It looked ridiculous on feudal dark-ages maidens, it looks ridiculous now, and it says some very odd things about our culture right now that so many people think it's a good idea.
And if that weren't bad enough, that neckline is crimping both women in a way that looks distinctly uncomfortable and creates a marvellous illusion of pancake-chestedness.
Okay, so it works slightly better when it doesn't look like a politely rebellious teen has arbitrarily re-hemmed it in the mistaken belief that more slutty = more grown-up, and Kruger's shoes are less hideous, but really the whole thing is unsalvageable. The factory that made it should be burned to the ground.

Both versions would look better if they got rid of the sleeves. And if you could find a midpoint between both lengths of the dresses it could look really nice.

I don't think the epaulets are a different color! There are just different reflections due to surroundings. That said, I think Shantel wins here either way, despite the shockingly bold shortening of the dress. It seems more appropriate for the setting, and I like her hair and shoes better. The shoes especially do it for me -- which is why I don't mind as much the length of her dress. It's flirty, as are the shoes, while Diane's were more business, as was the length of the dress.

The epaulets will NEVER work. Neither will the flattened poitrine. Shantel honey, WHY did you chop off the skirt so bad? Ruined the line, DK had the better length.

If you vanish the epaulets, let the girls breathe, and get rid of that popcorn around the seams, this could be an OK dress. With a pair of black silk sandals, a small turquoise bracelet, and a pair of malachite earrings. Small gold pendant. SMALL. And a fun movie to look forward to

This was much better the first time around. Diane had the right idea keeping this at knee length and she also understood that less is more when it comes to a dress this...uh...loud. Shantel's shoes should have been paired up with a dress made of tin foil at a party hosted in space.

www.theinkwell.me

Both dresses are a waste of sewing machine oil.

Did they both order their clothes from the "Recycle Your Xmas Garland" catalogue?

Diane's is slightly, only slightly less heinous,
the length allows her to carry it with more dignity,
but door # 2, looks a feckless Xmas elf.

The shoes on both are equally loathsome.

Nothing which was actually in the worst portion of Kruger's look was fixed, and the "improvements" have deprived the dress of what was quirky and evocative of earlier times. Van Santen's look is unbalanced by the short hem/long sleeves; on the other hand, if not for the long sleeves, it would just look as if it had shrunk in the wash. I like DK's shoes better, but SvS's got points for better hair and more alive looking make-up.

Pretty girls, unfixable dress.

Oh dear, definitely worse the second time around. Looks like a figure skating outfit but she is nowhere near ice.

If the epaulets are so shiny that they're reflecting their surroundings, and THAT'S the difference in the colors of them, there's no saving either one.

Diane wins--she's got the Cate Blanchett vibe going (ie, you don't know what to think about my outfit but you can't stop thinking about it), but with the way Shantel's hacked hers off, it looks like she borrowed it from her 12-year-old sister.

That kinda makes me want to see it on, say, Miley Cyrus, or some other Disney spawn. (I know she's like 16 but she looks 12 in the face.)

Diane's dress with other chick's shoes. Done and done! Love it.

Toooo shoooorrrt.

I like the black epaulets though. But in the end it comes down to the shoes, and Diane wins that battle.

Three words: homemade skating outfit.

The shoes are so cute, though! Diane's shoes were all weird and pointy. These shoes are great!

i think diane looks glamorous in this adorable chanel number, and her patent mary-jane pumps are charming! she's always stunning!

HA! I went to high school with Shantel...and that dress is fug on both of them.

Just as bad. Make it go away....

I just can't believe they made two of that dress. fug.

Tacky, tacky, tacky, tacky. Cute shoes, though.

Still terrible. Black epaulets are no improvement, and the sheer part is still gross. And the new length is way too short. Interesting shoes, though, and I mean that in a good way.

Who wore it better? The rest of the world who made the choice NOT TO WEAR IT.

I think it looks horrid on both of them. The bodice part is completely unflattering, the length is awkward for both, and I hate the sleeves with a fiery passion. And don't get me started on the epaulets. Heinous doesn't even start!

Well, Shantel's shoes are better, but without being able to see whether it compresses her chest in the same way, I feel unable to make a real judgment. Breast compression looks good on no one, and I suspect it would destroy the positive influence of the totally awesome heels.

I LOVE DIANE so everything looks better on her. I think the black epaulets are better but the dress should probably sit just above the knee. And I don't think what's-her-name's shoes suit the dress. Diane all the way.

Diane FTW

Diane FTW...but I WANT THOSE SHOES

There's no better here. Shantel's is more playful and cute, and the shoes are gorgeous and match the lenght perfectly! But Diane went for more elegant look, and she looks older as a result. Both good, though I prefer Shantel's.

I prefer the black epaulets since they actually go with the rest of the dress, and generally I think the top looks much better on Final-More Final-NO REALLY IT'S FINAL THIS TIME-Destination girl(it's too much effort to scroll up to the top for her name). Ie, she's not all squidged into it like DK. But yeah, it's too short, like the designer's inspiration just deserted him at that point! Which is a shame because I think this dress could have been really pretty. Also the shoes are too clumpy for such a flimsy-looking dress. Some black courts would have worked, or something in silver.

The dress is awful.

I think Stella McCartney has made the figure skating costume a wardrobe staple, unfortunately. Now we're seeing versions of it everywhere, and it's all just so ugly. Even the most expensive fabric looks cheap when it's designed to look like polyester doubleknit "satin" or "crepe" and illusion netting, with dollar-store pearl detailing and tin foil shoulder insets.

Colour looks better on Shantel, but D. Krug can rock my world any day. Plus, what is up with Shantel's skirt?? Combined with that weird leg angle that's a more awkward version of Paris Hilton's famous paparazzi pose, it looks ill-fitting and shrunken. A couple of inched longer and it would have looked perfect. (Imagined scenario here: "Can we make it just a little bit shorter? That's it, that's it... oops, too short."

Of course, as other people have commented, Diane Kruger has an elegance Little Miss VanSaten would find hard to match.

This dress is Chanel, I believe and it is horrible on BOTH of them!

This dress is Chanel, I believe, but it is horrible and unflattering on BOTH of them.

Really truly bad in both cases because it looks like an ice show costume, no matter what the length (I think it's the shoulder pads outlined in gold that really sends it to ice capades territory.) But DK's shoes totally rock.

I don't think the dress is awful (not the cutest either); they both work (and shoe choices are good for the respective lengths) but the short is too short. Who wins - not the stylists for sure.

I still don't know if it's actually a nice dress, but there's like, a ten year age difference between Diane and Shantel. Shantel should be allowed to wear the shorter dress, and it's not even that short. Then Shantel rocks the shoes, her hair is nice, the color of the dress was changed. I'd say they rock it equally well, just differently. Of course, the fact that anybody can rock that dress is a feat in and of itself, hemline aside.

Perhaps a smidge too short, but LOTS better than Diane's. Everything else looks smashing.

The only part of Diane's outfit that was a keeper was the discrete cocktail length of the skirt. Shantel's has a slightly better fit upstairs, but still squashes the girls like a mammogram. It's the cruel waistline that makes this unpalatable. But you know, I'm beginning to like the half-fabric, half sheer sleeve.

I don't like the dress at all, on either actress. Also, Shantel's shoes are hideous.

i tend to also think that the "shoulder pads" are the same metallic color, only reflecting at different angles and in different settings.
that being said, i hate this dress either way - the mesh, the metal, either length, the squashing of the boobs - BLECH!

I think it's ugly no matter what one alters regarding the cut and color. It does odd things to their figures...makes them look boxy and in Kruger's case, very shoulder-y. Blech.

Hated it on Diana -- surprisingly, love it on Shantel. Didn't think it would look good on anyone, frankly. I think she looks more comfortable in it, which is always the first step (1. Own Your Look). And the shoes and hair are much better. Like the dress length. It's a "Do"!

SO MUCH WORSE.

the end.

Marginally better on Shantel. Both totally ruinned by that dire popcorn garland trim.

Diane Kruger wore it SOOO MUCH BETTER than whoever-the-ho-bag that other lady was. The other lady looked like a total freaking moron, it is obviously too short.

i find this "choose the shoulder pad colour" idea pretty intriguing. Diane liked it white, Shantel preferred it black. i wonder how it'd look on grey, silverish, gold, pink perhaps... and also how many shades were available. but the glued popcorns kind of put me off a bit.

it's almost a DIY dress - choose your shoulder pad colour, glue whatever you want in your dress, put some feather boa trimming, some sheerness... way too much for me. i prefer my outfits alreade MADE.

The epaulets are the same color on both dresses. They are both gold scaled things. It's just the lighting in the pictures that make them look different.

So given that I am going with Diane since the only difference is the length and she looks much classier in her version.

One Tree Hill on Ice

Epaulets. Need anything more be said?

It's. . . um. . . better?

I no longer find myself wanting to scream "Ah! Burn it! Burn it with fire!"
Now I just stare at it from across the room attempting to set in on fire with my mind. My MIND.

So on one hand, it's an improvement. On the other hand, a great deal of truly fug territory is encompassed by "improvement."

From the wacky tinsel crap around the neckline and badly constructed empire (?) waist and epaulets (??), to the terrible dark visible seams where the arms join the bodice... JUST NO. No no no no no. Every day, in every way, at any length, this dress is simply bad.

Remove the epaulets and the tinsel, and...

You know what? THIS DRESS IS SO BAD THAT I CANNOT IMAGINE IT WITHOUT EPAULETS AND TINSEL. O the pain.

IT LOOKS LIKE A GOTH ELF DRESS.

It is better but still the cleavage area is all wrong. It looks like... I don't know... Boob-hater club's wicked plan to make all women flat-chested? :D

Shoes are nice, though!

Sigh... I think the dress would be perfect just above the knees - especially with the pleats coming off the waist. I agree with what someone else said about putting the hair up if you're going to rock the epaulets. I actually don't mind the cleavage area - it matches the shoulders, where the dress loses me is the arched waist highlighted by gold beads. The line the beads create take away from the rest of the dress. I think if you could just rip them out, the dress would be fab!

Shantel has awesome shoes.
Now she needs a kickin' dress to go with them.

But the dress is unfixable. It still looks like a costume for a Mel Brooks SciFi flick.
She looks like she is going to a slumber party already dressed for bed (after the pillow fight of course).

Black epaulets = WIN

Short length = hmmm...well it was close to being great

Shoes = FAIL

Conclusion: Nobody can get it right.

I gotta give to the Krug. She wore it first and the longer length works better since it keeps her lady parts covered. I even like the pointy shoes. But what gives her the win is the expression on her face--she knows this is tres fug. The other girl seems to think this monstrosity LOOKS GOOD.

The dress looks MUCH less DIY on Shantel. Better.

It's a horrible piece of sci-fi-shouldered madness, but if choose we must: On Kruger = elegant but pregnant. On VanSanten = figure skater at a funeral. Diane FTW.

I personally don't like it on either woman. The gauzy sleeve material is hideous and makes it look like some sort of skin disease. Both had great shoes, though I liked Diane's better. I think this is definitely a dress to put away and never wear again.

I can't really say that I like the outfit.

Well... I guess Shantal wears it "better," but really, with a dress like this, how good is better?

(So, what do you think will happen next time Dan is up for a heart?)

If anything the VanSanten attempt is even worse. It does look like it shrunk in the wash, and she hasn't removed the horrible epaulets and pearl bits at all. Fail.

I prefer Shantel.

Diane Kruger wore it so much better.

Shantel ftw.

So this is Chanel. You only have to look at how badly Karl Lagerfeld dresses himself to
know to never NEVER trust his taste in anything but bodyguards and male models. Absolutely terrible dress in any combination of colors and at any length. What do these women think when they look in a mirror?

Why is this dress back? :( Why don't any of the public figures attempting to wear it realize it'll just make them look like they're dressed for Christmas four months early?

The second version is too short, but the dress as a whole isn't great. It would look better with the length of the first version, but more tapered to the knees. It's highly unflattering in the chest area too.

Diana's face makes it aaalll better.

D. Kruger for sure, if only for the length of the skirt.

... and this is why we love D Krug... because although that dress is horrible, it's demure and at least an attempt at being stylish and in keeping with the character she's pimping (although characters wearing platinum epaulettes would be pretty random even for Tarrantino!). Not a good one, I wager but stylish nevertheless. Its bargain bin counterpart tho is scary hideous. Who knew you could take fugly and slut it up? It's the same dress yet this shorted version looks like the girl decided to do a Pretty in Pink and make her own counterfeit lace monstrosity. Those shoes are also wicked scary... like espadrilles but leather... if this tarty CW reject is an indication of the "Final Destination" then I shall be glad to stay home!!

Diane is so beautiful and rather dignified and can get away with most anything. She could be a new Tilda if she tried. The other girl is tacky and there is no hope. Like so many other trollpy looking girls , she will fade away. Diane may not have huge talent but there is something there.

Bottom half of Diane's dress + Top half of Shantel's dress = Cute dress

Um, this Shantel person doesn't have a Pacey. Automatic downgrade. Diane wins by default even though that dress looks like it shrunk in the dryer.

It's not great to begin with but Diane definitely wore it better. On Shantel the shortness adds uneccesary twee to an already fugly mix. No. Just ... no.

I agree the epaulets are not a different color, they're REFLECTING a different color. Either way, though, they are horrendous. Horrendous. Eek. Diane looks miserable, like she's posing for the DMV, but the other woman (who I've never heard of) has not improved it and her attempt at "matching" shoes has failed.

Gah, they're both fug.

DK's white epaulets don't work, SVS's length and fug shoes don't work.

It's pretty much a fail dress, but the black epaulets give it a titch of hope.

those sparlky shoulders look bad on BOTH of them...
i also dont like the tinsel piping (ok...i know its beading, but from afar it looks like xmas tree tinsel) on the bodice seams....i think the dress in both forms looks really silly.

Maybe the set can be sold in the Mommy and Me catalog.

Diane. Too short on Shantel, and Diane's still makes me think (in a totally awesome way) of Princess Aura from "Flash.... aaah aaaaHHHH... Gorrrr-doooon.... HE'LLSAVEEVERYONEOFUS!" God, I love that movie. I have to go watch it right now.

Bad on both! Terrible and just god awful. And I think the epaulets are both the same - made of some kind of metal, forged by a metal-smith with delusions of Joan of Arc, warrior goddess grandeur. They are the same just reflecting different light.

I'm sorry, but that waist line is wrong no matter the length of the dress. I suspect it's been designed for the expectant mum whose bump isn't terribly big just yet. Or for those with dreadful posture as both of these starlets appear to have. (Many, many crunches please ladies.) Those studs on the shoes give them a whiff of earth mother and this short version reminds me of a tap dance competition costume where Mum didn't know how to cut a full circle and couldn't afford the sequins.

Shantel's legs aren't nice enough for this.

I'm not convinced that the epaulet colour was changed. I think that it's the same colour but that they are a reflective gold, so Diane's look gold because she is outside and it is bright and Shantel's look black because she is inside....
Either or the dress is pretty crap and shouldn't have been worn by one celeb, let alone 1.5 celebs.

Much, much better on Diane. Far too short on Shantel.

I like it on Diane, it's an... interesting dress but at least she always tries to be unique. Diane looks mysterious and classy while Shantal looks like a figure skater. Also, the hem looks a bit dodgy, and it just LOOKS like she had it hemmed.. if you're going to make that drastic a change to a dress, you may as well get it done properly...

Diane rocks it except for the boob squeeze. I like how on Shantel it's a bit of a babydoll cut.

i prefer shantel's version, though i don't think it's that great a choice for either of them. but the shorter length looks more modern, less frumpy, and the black epaulets make it look less like the transylvanian spacesuits worn by riff-raff & magenta at the end of the rocky horror picture show (and my apologies to RHPS, because i totally still love it.) the trim looks cheap like Christmas tree garland from the 99 cent store, and needs to be ripped of both versions ASAP.
i do really like both ladies shoes, though i don't think either pair really goes with the dress at all.
