There was much discussion recently about Ms Rose McGowan's wardrobial choices. I must admit that there's something kind of charming about her most current ensemble:

I don't know how I feel about the dress ITSELF -- I enjoy that it's quasi-Marilyn Monroe a la "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," but I suspect she needs a chunky fabulous bracelet if she's going to make the (probably wise) choice to skip the gloves -- but I can't help but be amused by the expression on her face. She looks very, "Now you want me to stand over here? Really? Whatever you say, photo dude. Just make up your mind."
She totally mugged for the cameras once she got to her mark, too:

Hey, as I always say: if you're going to wear a skin-tight, pink satin gown, WEAR IT.

I kind of love her now. How did that happen?
I love her in this! She is just spunky enough to pull off a skin tight, hot pink, satin gown. I think I would have hated it on anyone else, but Rose is able to pull it off with aplomb!
Way to go Rose! You keep rockin' out!
She actually looks pretty great in that. Good job Rose!
She's working the dress, but can we talk about the hair? It looks like she just rolled out of bed, and not in a sexy, wavy way, but a disheveled, flat-on-one-side way.
Rose has always been a bit kooky with a side of delightful, I gotta say I love her in this.
I'm going out right now to find myself a skin tight HOT pink satin gown. Every girl should have one. Thanks Rose!
I love her in this. I don't love the zipper in the back, but she's WORKING it and looks like she's having a ball.
What's with the zipper?
My date to prom laughed at that dress on the rack last year.
But Rose is so adorable that I can't help but love it. Plus, it has a cool zipper.
That is one visible-ass zipper. Other than that, I AM ALL FOR THIS.
whats with the panty line?
ummm, is she wearing matching pink tights with her heels, or is it just me?
Very cute from the front, but the ugly zipper and panty line spoil the back.
If this dress were only an inch larger it would be great; as it is, it's close, but no cigar.
I am a sucker for that shade of pink, and she is rocking it. Because of that - and the fact that she is looking so healthy and pretty - I am willing to say "details, schmetails." I think I'm going soft in my old age.
It's a 4 year old's dream come true, and a grown woman's I'm not sure what...eeks.
I know it's just the lighting or something, but unfortunately in the 1st photo this PYT just looks kind of old and drunk and post-eyelift.
I totally miss Charmed now!! Too cute, Rose!!!
In my fantasies where I win the Oscar for Best Actress, I'm wearing this dress. Minus the exposed zipper though.
Ya know, these days I'm over worrying about panty lines. First, it means she actually HAS underwear on, which is a plus. Second, it means she has enough flesh on her body to press against the dress, which is a happy thing -- Rose knows what it is to digest actual food. Last, I had to squint so hard to actually SEE the panty line that I figure complaining about it is just looking hard for something about which to complain. She just looks good, and she looks happy enough to be playful.
That zipper, though -- whoa, that's a ZIPPER. It's like a signature zipper, or a package with a big OPEN HERE label.
Does her face look different to anybody else? I feel like maybe she got some work done? Or did I just forget her mug?
Yeah, full of zipper hate too.
But I have such a girl crush on Rose that she could wear pretty much anything and I'd say it was awesome.
Except that zipper.
i have a HUGE problem with the zipper. Other than that it's ok.
The zipper is what keeps it young
I like the zipper
The zipper is hideous and amateurish. Otherwise I think she looks GREAT.
Awesome color and silhouette. Zipper is trying to look vintage, instead looks lame. It's too bad that the dress is too tight on her--um, how did she miss the tell-tale crease across her groin-ular region?
My only issue with this is her choice of lipstick, I feel like it should either match better or not try to match at all, because right now it looks to me like she tried to match it, but was off a shade.
Other than that very cute. I love how much fun she is having in it.
SQUEE!! She's like a living, breathing SuperStar Barbie! She just needs a matching boa.
Rose looks absolutely smashing! I love her anyway and am thrilled she finally found a beautiful dress that reflects her inner beauty.
I voted "don't wear a pink satin gown, EVER," but only because I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE pink. She looks good and like she's having a good time. I'd love this in ANY OTHER COLOR. =)
One of the saddest things in Hollywood is a perfectly good looking actor/actress who gets a bad surgery or 4 and ends up looking OLDER and LIKE A PALE IMITATION OF SOMEONE ELSE DIXIE CARTER YOUR LIFE IS CALLING *ahem* but that said, I love this dress on her, I hate the big ZIPPER (which word I wish I could be writing in Rockwell Extra Bold font size 999), and I wish I could forget her terrible, terrible taste in men. Which of course has nothing to do with the dress or anything but every time I see her it's all SQUEEEEE IT'S ROSE MCGOWAN SHE'S SO CUTE AND COOL AND I TOTALLY LOVED HER IN CHARMED AND-- *remembers Marilyn Manson and Robert "her married boss ew!!!" Rodriguez* oh. and then I make a little frowny face. But yeah: dress, cute, looks good, etc., etc., ad hominem, E. pluribus unum.
panty lines, rose. panty lines.
Pink is just a color, and that particular shade of pink is a great one at that. I don't understand why people are so picky about color, unless it blatantly clashes with something else. Shape, shillouette and porportion are what matter to me. She looks fab in this :) and I love that attitude.
She even breaks the whole "read-heads should never wear pink" rule, and still looks good.
I'm pretty sure Marilyn's version didn't have a big honking zipper and VPL.
It could be much much much much worse, though.
The dress is gorgeous from the front. She's curvy and healthy-looking, and unlike most people her complexion is good with the pink.
That zipper, though, dear god. (There was a reason they literally sewed Marilyn into some of her gowns.) Could the designer not manage a row of covered buttons instead? Even a row of fake buttons to cover the line of the zipper? Something.
I am so not down with this visible zipper trend. Even one of Anne Hathaway's frocks had one in "Prada" and they've been showing up everywhere lately. Otherwise I like the dress.
She's rocking it, but I am still left wondering "Where did her boobs go?"
The color is faboush on her. She works it. NO question.
But ... but ... you can see both of her legs, and she's mugging like she HATES US! The problem is not the pink satin, the problem is the tightness of the satin, and also the hatred. There is a lack of modesty in her vitriol.
I can't vote; I don't agree with any of the options. I think the dress is horrible, but only because it's too small and on someone who's wearing it FOR SPITE.
She hasn't had her eyes done. She was in a really bad car accident a while back and (if I remember correctly) a piece of glass was lodged in her eye socket. She did have surgery to correct it but that's why one eye looks wonky.
I don't have anything against pink per se. As long as it just pops up every now and then.
She looks like she is having fun which is nice. So a thumps up from me!
The zipper and the panty lines are the only things that hurt this outfit. I'm not a fan of the color, but can appreciate it when it's worn right, and Rose is definitely wearing it right. She looks good!
I was not aware until I read the comments here that she had been in an accident and had glass lodged in her eye. All this time I just thought she was partying too hard and it was catching up with her. I can't can't pick on her for that. Besides, she is still gorgeous.
It's hard to see the hair in these pictures enough for me to decide if I like it or not, but I'm glad she didn't go all retro with it or it would have pitched her whole look into a world of trite silliness.
I've always thought that Rose is totally gorgeous. (btw: how does Marilyn Manson get the totally beautiful females? it doesn't compute.)
Query alert!!! Is she being ironic about her connection with Marilyn's? Is she? Can anyone be THAT ironic????
That pink satin abomination, however, does no justice to her beauty. And it makes her look like she carries all her weight in her crotch. I, personally, don't particularly want my lovely-lady-land to look like it needs a shelf to hide it's hidden wonders/horrors.
Not a look that I aspire to, gentle fuggers.
Yes, it's a bit on the small side but otherwise... what was the problem again?!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, is that a poorly hidden tattoo what she has on her back...?
I think she looks adorable. That dress really suits her anyway, and the way she's mugging it up for the cameras just throws the cuteness factor off charts. Go Rose!!
According to Wikipedia, the car accident caused her sunglasses to smash into her face and she had to have corrective plastic surgery. As someone who was wearing glasses when hit in the face with an airbag, I understand! Poor thing.
She is ROCKING this dress :). Not digging the exposed zipper trend, but can't fault Rose for that.
I am confused about her face. Or more like I'm concerned. It looks like she had some crazy ass work done on it. Is her face "off" or is it just me?
ok, I love her in this and I hated her in everything else I must not have had my crabby flakes today.
She's come a long way from chain-mail dresses, yes? She looks fab, but I believe I see the dreaded VPL on that rear view. At least she's wearing panties.
It is a great shape on her, but pink with red hair is not the best idea.
I think the dress looks fab & so does she, and I love what I can see of the shoes! The zipper...not so much.
Her attitude is adorable, though I still don't think I'd like to go on a car trip with her any time soon, and I might've liked this, if the bodice fitted her at all. It hits her breasts at just the level to make them look old and saggy, and it hits and ill-fits her back in a way that makes it look old and flabby, and her boobs and her back are neither old nor sad in any way (though they shall be, some day; let us bow our heads for a moment in mourning the ravages the passage of time starlets have, are and will suffer). Also, the visible zipper is a big, fat, cheap-looking NO.
Which is entirely a shame, as I really could have gotten into this look.
I may be partial because I wore the exact style and color dress to my prom several years ago (except more cleavage haha!). But I love this. I love that color of pink. I know some people can't stand it but with the right complexion it really pops and stands out in a good way. Plus, it's Rose McGowarn. What could possible look bad on her?
I love the dress on her - not everyone can pull off the color or fabric - and she does so beatifully.
Too bad about the lousy plastic surgery though. I understand it wasn't voluntary, but it unfortunately makes her look 50.
Someone needs to tell this poor woman that pink is really never a good choice for redheads. Just sayin'.
Hmmm. I think she looks great, but in the top picture there is a distinct horizontal line across the front of the skirt that I suspect is being caused by one of those spanx-type slips. Unfortunate, but I can't pblame her, I wouldn't wear satin without one either!
What?! You're not going to address the visible lines in these pics?! Pic one - looks like she's wearing Spanx to halfway down her thigh. Pic 2 - panty line, and Pic 3, Spanx again at the thighs.
minus the pantyline and ginormous zipper up the back, I kind of love this dress. And I think her facial expressions are ridiculous but also somewhat appropriate.
it's great but, knickerline! that can be avoided.
apart from that it's fine and harmless.
i like the front bit.
Is she auditioning for the lead in a biopic about Angelyne? If yes then I love it! Otherwise I am coming from a place of NO NO NO.
LOVE the color, love it on her, she's rocking it!
I love her. Did I say that the last time there were comments on a picture of her? I do.
Anyway, this is fab, and I couldn't give two hoots if she's got VPL or VSL (visible Spanx line?) or if her tattoo is covered up or not, or if she's got red hair with a pink dress. The pink dress does, unfortunately, clash horribly with the red carpet, but that can't be helped.
Something is very off about the top bewb part.
I wish she hadn't done anything to her face. She's beautiful.
I don't understand how anyone can focus on the dress! She has had so much work done, it's astonishing. She's on NipTuck now (totally apt) and you can hardly see her lips moving with all the puffing. Very sad.
Well, my Super Star Barbie circa 1979 was packaged in this exact same dress (amped up with a matching boa) so I'm gonna have to say FAB.
I absolutely adore her. She seems to have such a sense of humor about herself. Anybody with enough of a sense of mischief to vamp on the red carpet is Good People.
Personally, I dont love pink as a dress colour, however i have to admit she does pull it off very well.
Sadly im going to sound like a broken recored here cos the major problem is the panty line and the zipper. The zipper really cheapens the whole look, it makes it look very tacky with the satin.
Gotta giver her credit though for pulling off the colour with her hair, and her lovely curvey body!
I see a lot of "curvy" comments, but no one pointing out the obvious: from the front, it's unflattering to what is otherwise a nice rack. If Rose is being compared to Marilyn, I shouldn't be able to see her lats from the front.
I'm probably the wrong person to ask about this since I'm the hugest sucker for anything hot pink. That being said, I love the cut of the dress and think it flatters her despite being tight and satin. I agree about the bracelet though, but overall I dig this look.
Rose and the dress are HOT !!!
Don't mind the dress but what the hell is up with the face. She looks all puffy. Its distracting!
she kindaaaa reminds me of marilyn monroe in this... but the zipper?
I understand the necessity of it, but it really does not need to be THAT long and THAT noticeable... I mean.. seriously? who thought that freaking zipper up?
