yeah, she can pull off damn near anything. HOWEVER... the top of this dress does not appear to be doing her (admittedly spectacular) figure any favors. her boobs look squashed and not in a come-hither kinda way, especially the right one. when you're this thin the dress should not be giving you that weird roll of flesh under your armpit.
Get rid of the weird chunky bracelet, shorten the skirt a smidge to just above/right at the knee and adjust the bodice so that it doesn't look so painfully tight, and it would be much improved. Seriously, those straps look like they might cause permanent boob damage.
Her short short hair makes her face look really long, and the short bodice bits make her torso look too long and the skirt is a few inches to long so she looks a bit...like...a sparkley squid...
What is it with celebrities wearing bodices that do not fit properly? The bodice needs to be slightly fuller, the blank bits of the dress need filling in, and the length of the dress needs adjusting, either up or down.
And the shoes, bracelet and bag need to be tortured and burnt.
If we lost an inch or two of fabric from the bottom and found an inch or two of fabric around her chest then this would be pure magic.

I don't like the see through gashes in the dress. Minus that I think it would look fine. I always wonder when I see women Halle's age wearing unnecessarily revealing clothing if they're having a mid-life crisis. Much like Heather Graham during the Hangover premieres. I'm a believer in leaving something to the imagination.

Is it the cut, the photo angle, the way she is standing? WTF is going on with her body? Halle has one of the best bodies in the world and this makes everything on her look weird. Like I would suggest pulling it up, but that isn't the answer.

Just cut off the bra-top, hoist it up to be strapless with a straight across the chest neckline, and it would skim just above the knee- viola! Even those awful cut-outs would be tolerable. But don't her shoes look too small? I don't want to see beteewn her (admitedly) beautiful little piggies.
I'm with Shelly; I want to hike it up an inch or two so there's more boob coverage and less leg coverage. That just-below-the-knee length tends to stumpify the legs, and this is no exception.

Actually, with the location of the under-boob cut-out (I like cut-outs, but I'm weird that way), we can't hike up the top. We need to add about 2" of thickness to the bra area and I think a lot of the visual issues we're all having would be fixed.

It might be some of the optical effect where her shoes have disappeared into the carpet, but on the bottom she looks heavy and stumpy: there's something really wrong with that length, it should be shorter or longer.

Of course she has a gorgeous figure, but this veers a little too far into the "trashily nude" camp for my taste. If she just wasn't so violently stuffed into that top section...
There are several things going on with this outfit that bother me. First of all, I agree with whoever said that it was too long, making it look to me like the person who began making this dress changed their mind about the look they were going for midway through. All business down below, party up top. Yes, this dress is like... a mullet in that sense.
Secondly, Halle's boobs don't look particularly comfortable. The straps are awkwardly placed too, adding to the sense of discomfort this entire outfit seems to scream at me.
Last, she should have gone with more delicate accessories. That black thing on her wrist makes me want to look for the ball and chain that should be attached.

Sometimes I feel as though photographs can't do justice to a garment. I have the feeling that seeing this in person -- where you see the proportions of an ordinary, attractive female near or even next to Halle -- would be absolutely breathtaking -- like seeing a Platonic ideal come to life, or like seeing Betty Boop step out of your tv and start walking around your living room.
