Fug or Fab: Eva Mendes

It's not that I hate things that are sparkly.

It's that I think Eva Mendes may have arrived at this event via confetti cannon.

Maybe if it was all one color. I think the fact that it's the color of party confetti is just really distracting.

I actually do not hate the top half, but the bottom half is too much.

Maybe if it didn't have that slit up the skirt that makes me think she's wearing some kind of shorts jumpsuit ... MC Hammer shorts jumpsuit? I don't think that's a look you want.

But really, I think we all know that girl does NOT clean her own toilets. As such, the Cinderella hair is a bit mystifying.

Don't hate the dress (although the slit looks wonky) but hate the hair and the shoes. A super strappy sandal & a nice updo might have saved the day.

It looks like Eva went through Blanche Devereaux's closet for this dress.

My first thought on seeing this picture; why did Eva Mendes roll in the first grade art project? Totally reminded me of glue and sparkles for some reason...

If it were a mini-dress, I would love it! But the length + the slit= terrible (but SPARKLY) madness.

If this same fabric were used for a simple strapless number I'd be A-Okay. I'm also a magpie so take my opinion with a grain of glitter if you know what I'm sayin'.

I really don't hate the "confetti-ness" of it. It is fun, and like a fish, I am attracted to bright colors and shiny objects. But I agree that the bottom slit is wrong... also does it look bunchy/poofy around her middle? God forbid what it would look like on a normal-sized person!

I almost ALMOST gave it a fab. Except for the hair, and the shoes, and the hemline, and the weird slit. And the sleeves.

A long-sleeved wrap dress with BIG multicolored sequins is just too much.

Either chop off the sleeves (or simplify the cut -- a shift might work), or make it a top only with a solid bottom, or shrink the size of those sequins, or make it one color (black might not be bad). Or all of the above.

If it was sleeveless, it would be SOOO much better.

The hair could be better and the slit is a little awkward, but otherwise I think she looks fab. I like that she kept her accessories really simple. A huge necklace or crazy shoes would have just been way too much.

I have a feeling this looks way better in person. I'd be much happier if it at least stayed in one color family.

I'm with those who wouldn't mind the sequins in a minidress with some strappy heels. The color are really pretty. But the overall effect with that much dress is blinding. Good distraction from the bad bad hair, though.

I LOVE sequins and even I think this is too much. I agree, if it were a mini? fabulous. Right now she looks like a ringmaster.

There isn't a part of this I don't hate. It totally hides her fab figure - even her legs. I can't tell if it's the shape of the dress or the huge sequins making it lumpy. The wild mix of colors looks like a kindergarten art project. Her hair looks just as you said, like she didn't bother to fix it after cleaning her toilet.

Okay, maybe the little bit of cleavage isn't completely wrong, but it doesn't make up for this mess. Is she trying to force Hollywood to recognize her talent over her looks?

I think this fabric might work on a slim, strapless, knee length dress. Anything more and it's too much.

I think you did a Fug or Fab for Eva Mendes for the dress she wore to either the Cannes or Venice film festival. And I'll say the same thing I said then, this only works on Eva Mendes. On anyone else it might be fug.

Oooooo Shiny!
Maybe it's the way she's standing that makes the slit look odd. Or perhaps she's wearing it backwards?

Where is Rachel Zoe?!

It would be better as a tank dress with the hem right around where the slit starts. Maybe fewer colours. And much like the Leona Lewis outfit, + David Boreanaz would be helpful. Much like Pacey, a little extra Angel is never a bad thing.

Her dress reminds me of those pictures they showed you in elementary school to test for color blindness, like, can you see the red "e" surrounded by green? This is just leaving me blind, period.

Place this at the bottom of her fishtank and then start over.

She is way too beautiful to be wearing such a hideous outfit. If the sequins weren't HANGING LIKE A BLOUSE MY GREAT-AUNT USED TO OWN, I would actually be ok with it.

BTW - I have to comment on Leona Lewis since you did not open the comments for that one (which I totally understand), but I just have to say: Why can't women who were open toe shoes GET PEDICURES!!!!! IT IS BAD ENOUGH I HAVE TO LOOK AT YOUR NASTY FEET, CAN YOU AT LEAST PUT SOME POLISH ON????

Ok, I feel better now. Thank you.

I would like this SO much more if it were just the top, with a plain bottom. Like a black satin pencil skirt. I think that'd look fab.

To quote Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man:

"She's very sparkly. She looks like a holiday."

And that holiday is called, "I'm Now Seeing Spots From That Dress and It Makes It Hard To See What I'm Working On, So Thanks." Day.

The hair I can appreciate, because it looks like mine when there are no witnesses. Appropriate for the situation: No. Who gives a crap factor: Si!

I do like the bag and the shoes are inconspicuous. Yay!

I just think it doesn't suit her.

Kim Cattrall would ROCK this dress.

I like this. It should bother me, but it doesn't. I think EM's hair and pose make the dress, though there are probably better pictures.

Okay, so I totally have a clutch that is made from that same stuff! I would call it material, but, I don't think it is material. I think its more a sequin stringing type thing. Either way, that is just a whole lot of sparkly! No sweetie, no.

I get a sparkly peacock vibe from this dress. I feel like it might be better in a one metallic color.

I love me some Eva, and I love me some sequins, even big multi-colored ones.

But I'm not sure I'm loving THIS dress with the big multi-colored sequins on Eva.

I think if it were hemmed straight at about knee length (maybe a skooch shorter) it would be better. The slit-haters are right

And if the hair were neatened up, that would help too.

But: "OOOH Shiny!"

now heres a boring comment from me:
i think if you look @ the large size version it looks a lot better than the smaller size version.
also, i think it's overwhelmingness [which spellcheck thinks is more like a word than i think it is likely a word] might have some, as they once said, oooomph to it.
spellcheck, otoh, does not like that one.

After staring at the dress up close a little, I think there is a very pretty dress under all the shiny. She should have worn it inside out.

If the dress stopped at the start of the split and was paired with opaque black tights and a more slick up-do.. then we'd be cooking with gas!

I feel like the individual sequins on her dress are so big that they might catch on the fabric of other, worthier dresses and ruin them.

This v-neck top is really fabulous. It suits Eva very much

wait. hold on. really? is no one seeing what is actually happening here? which is that rachel zoe has clearly had eva mendes chained up in her basement for the past 2 weeks and has not only been starving her but also forcing her to wear outfits out of her own sunken-chested, ill-fitting wardrobe. and furthermore, is no one seeing that that is rachel zoe's signature up-do right there? i just got a chill thinking about the way her lipstick is going to look the next time she escapes the zoe's bondage.

The sequins kill this for me.

We have this little number where I work...except I work a t a home goods store...and it's a wreath...for Christmas.
