Celebrity Blue-Off: Anne Fugthaway vs Fugcelle Beauvais

"Okay, America, you got me. I totally stole this before Johnny Weir was finished with it, cut off the pants, and strategically shaved it to make it look like someone just took Grover hostage. But COME ON, it's hairy, and hairy equals hot! Right? RIGHT? At LEAST tell me it's more fun than the shiny blue that Garcelle wore:

"I mean, that is so PLAIN. YAWN. I am the empress of Leg City and its suburb, Thighland, and Garcelle is stuck in boring old Shintytown. And is that a pocket by her hip, or a pleat? I could put Corn Nuts and an Evian in that thing! Boo, America! ... Unless she does have that stuff with her, in which case, I need someone to tell her I love her and then save me a seat to her left."

I don't mind the hairy/feather look of Anne's dress, I just think its too short. She has nice legs but the blue and the feathers and the length make it look a little showgirl to me. Maybe if it were knee length? I don't know...

I'd have voted Garcelle if her shoes weren't an abomination, and if her dress wasn't made of warped vinyl records.

Garcelle's would have been a lot better if the giant rose heart behind her had been a headpiece like I thought it was at first.

Garcelle's seems to be made out of a tarp. Why?

I had to vote Garcelle. But then, I'm biased. She could have been wearing a Lady Gaga costume knock-off (including full face-mask) and I would have voted against Hathaway. I just am completely unimpressed by her.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm starting to feel sorry for fashion designers. Sooooo many dresses on parade. Constantly having to come up with fresh-but-not-freaky ideas. Is that even possible anymore?

I think Garcelle's dress is awesome! Minus the shoes. Anne Hathaway's is so short as to be unattractive.

I voted for Anne's, because I love the color and the hairy feathers. Caveats: waaaaay too short and looks like she could barely walk in it, much less sit down. Garcelle's is OK - but would need to be hemmed up and needs different shoes.

I seriously thought that Fugcelle Beauvais was wearing a floppy hat made of roses, and I couldn't fathom why this hadn't been taken into account in the Fug blog! Argh! It would have been sooo much more hilarious if she had!

Anne's is a little short for my taste, but Garcelle's is blah. It has a very heavy feel to it. Maybe if it was just a bit shorter and she wore less clunky shoes or cuff.... No, I still prefer Anne's pretty blue.

Anne's is too short, Garcelle's is too long and her shoes are h-i-d-e-o-u-s!

I've seen pics of Anne from other angles, and I like this dress on her. Yeah, it's too short, but she's got all that marvelous skin to show off. And that shade of blue is lovely on her. Gabrielle, on the other hand ... I don't like any of her outfit -- not the dress, shoes (she rarely wears cute shoes), bracelets, purse or drag queen earrings. She needs to start over.

Anne's dress is better than Garcelle's (not much of stretch there); but how awesome would it have been had Garcelle's hair been in a FIERCE 'fro as implied by the floral . . . whatever behind her, as opposed to the boring do she is wearing?

Yeah, what @Alix said. Hathaway knows it too; look how she's hiding her face behind her clutch. Both ladies are very pretty themselves, but these are both fug.

Anne's dress looks like it's molting and Garcelle's looks like it probably squeaks when she walks.

Is Garcelle wearing a headdress made of roses? or was she just strategically placed? My vote depends on the answer...

Both are terribly unflattering. Hath's makes her look like she's got a bad case of middle aged spread and Gabrielle's looks like that coloured plastic wrap they market around the holidays.

Garcelle's would have been a contender if it fit better (what's going on in the bodice?) but as it is it looks like it's made out of a shiny plastic bag.

I think Anne's would be fine if it were just a little longer -- the hem hits her at an awkward spot. But I think the color and unusual texture work on such a simple design.

That flower arrangement should get an award for being the best accessory of the night. Whether it's a giant corsage for Jessica Biel or an amazing hairpiece for Garcelle Beauvais, it keeps on blooming! So versatile that Meryl from Launch My Line is probably kicking herself right now for not making one on the show!

They both need a length adjustment (Garcelle needs to go up a couple inches, Anne needs to go down). Garcelle needs a completely different pair of shoes and a decidedly less tarp-y fabric for the dress. Anne needs to... not necessarily go up a half-size, but maybe just a different fabric for the stripes. Something about the way that that is bunched looks uncomfortably tight, like the world's shiniest Ace bandage. While we're at it, I wouldn't mind them being a different shade of blue for a little contrast.

All of that said, their respective blues are GORGEOUS on them.

Honestly, I think they should swap :o) And they both have terrible shoes. What's with shoe fashion these days? Always these inappropriately clompy contraptions with cocktail dresses...

It's too hard to pick a winner, both dresses are fabulous and suit the celeb wearing it....all though in this pic of Anne, it shows just how short is and maybe it could be an inch longer!

I personally LOVE Anne's dress but I'm a sucker for feathers. I do however think that it's a tad too short, how can she ever possibly sit down in that thing without giving an x-rated showing? I feel like she's kinda discovering that in the photo above. It looks like an "oh shit" moment.

Garcelle's is fine but the fabric is awful and may I say that the cut of the dress is slightly uninspiring.

Shoes = U G L Y, both counts

Garcelle = ace the pockets and shorten it a bit

Anne = the furriness is OK (it's Evan Lysacek furry vs. Johnny Weir furry - oooh, a fur-off between those two would be awesome and artistic), but it's awkwardly SHORT

Yikes, they're both pretty awful. I find Anne's more offensive, though, because I love her and it seriously hurts to see her look so cheap.

Garcelle's shoes are rubbish. Please, enough with shoes doubling as foot armour. And everyone's talking about Anne's being too short, but does anyone else find Garcelle's a little awkward in length?

Can I have Anne's arms please?

Yuck. If I were Anne I'd be hiding my face, too. Her legs just aren't that good to be wearing something so short. Garcelle's dress looks like it was made out of a vinyl tablecloth. Two thumbs down.

Neither dress works, in my opinion. Garcelle's is too long and Anne's is too short. It's bordering on slutty and that's not the Anne Hathaway I know.

If I had to choose, I would go with Anne's. The color is better and I can live with the feathers. Garcelle's is just a big no, right down to the shoes.

I'm disappointed in Anne. She can do so much better than this. This dress is far too trashy even though the color and concept are great. It just needs to be a little longer. I feel as though I am about to see far too much.

Anne has done better than Garcelle, but mainly because Garcelle has decided to not only go too long (just a touch above the knee would have done wonders), she has gone too long with a dress made from plastic. The shoes are hideous as well.

Why do most of these women not understand shoes can make you or break you? I could live with Garcelle's (though that one pocket/pleat is weird), but the shoes!

If I could see each in a sparkly shoe (sandal for Anne, strappy-something for Garcelle), I might be able to like them... but until then, neither works for me.

I like Anne's, it's just too short. Compared to Garcelle's, the color and fit is way better. Garcelle's is too long, too.

Yes, what you all said about length of La Hath's. Well length of both really. I hate Garcelle's shoes, but note with immense pleasure that both of them have eschewed the the needing-to-pee stance. But speaking of shoes, Anne's seem, on biggening of the picture , to be strangely lumpy and shapeless.

Isn't Anne Hathaway's dress is eerily similar to the duct tape one Fergie wore recently. Either way, I like it way better than Garcelle's. Hers is a bit too shiny for my taste.

"...strategically shaved it to make it look like someone just took Grover hostage." That is the funniest sh*t I have read in a long time.

I'm still reeling from the insinuation that Shinytown is not a wondrous place to be.

(Anne's wasn't as bad from other angles, by the way.)

I rather like both of them, more so Anne's. It's a bit of a strange shape though, maybe because she's a strange shape for the length. But I hate Garcelle's shoes. Is this gladiatrix craze going to drag on much longer? I don't think I can take much more. Hmmm, now I'm not so sure about Anne's shoes. The round toes make her look like she has hooves.

As the former mayoress of Shinytown, I can tell you how that sort of power goes to the head. But I left Shinytown for Sparkletown, and am sort of still there. I wear sequins to the farmers market at 8 in the morning, because it feels good dammit. So Im not hating on the shine, it's just a fucking hideous no good cheap arse sad sack non-dress. And the shoes look smart enough to know better than to hang with it. Those shoes are for black fierceness, not smudgy nowhere.
And as a sucker for a feather, I can love parts of the Anne piece. In fact there should be MORE feathers, and it should be longer. I firmly believe no one over 25 should go that short, because lets face it, we should let the fetuses have something they can call their own, poor things. So MORE feathers, more cosmic navy or whatever that stuff is. Maybe less Anne tho. She's the lamest thing about that 'fit, let's face it.

I like Garcelle's, except for the pocket/pleat thing. And, yes, the shoes.

As for Anne's dress, I thought it was fine (if short) until I enlarged the picture and saw what Heather meant about it being Grover-esque. Clothes should not need their own combs.

Anne Hathaway looks gorgeous, the colour matches her skin tone really well and it isn't that short after all. The second dress looks baggy, unfitting and unflattering AND the girl knows it!

I aloso lovelovelove the fact that Anne H. hasn't jumped on fake tan bandwagon. It's so refreshing to see a celebrity whose skin doesn't scream "HELLO I'M FROM ORANGE COUNTY!!!!1"

Garcelle had me until I saw those shoes. I will be glad when the current fads of both shorty boots and those gladiator straps are done. Done.

I am annoyed by Anne Hathaway so probably biased but all that said her dress is still too short and black shoes doesn't work with this.

Actually neither of them should've worn black shoes unless they are reduced to accessorizing on my salary.

Ok both dresses are fug, but Anne's would be adorable and appropriate if it were just a little bit longer, and Garcelle's has no hope. BUT, incredibly fun fact about Garcelle: she was one of the rose girls that followed Eddie Murphy around at the palace in Coming to America. Now that's pretty sweet.

Garcelle had me until I saw the damn gladiator strap shoes that are kinda shaped like a short boot. Why does anyone wear these?

Anne Hathaway annoys me so she could wear my own clothing and I would find fault with it. That said, her dress would look great on Snooki of Jersey Shore but no one else.

Gotta gripe about wearing black shoes with these shades of blue. Garcelle, Anne-you have stylists and money; you can do better.

I like the dress on Anne, but the are too heavy for this dress.

The bottom dress looks like a tarp. Different fabric, maybe a tad shorter and I think we could have had a winner. Actually no. I think hair or not I love Anne's dress, and it would have won. But with those changes we would have had a perfectly cute date night dress.

Oh my god, Anne's dress is to die for. That picture doesn't do it justice. Did anyone see the red carpet coverage on E? I know -- I know. But it was GORGEOUS.

Garcelle... meh.

Anne -- wow. Just... wow. And the shoes were perfect, too.

Anne looks GORGEOUS. That dress is fantastic and yes she does have the legs to pull it off. She's young, the dress isn't too short for her.
